Adding a splash of TLC to a parade of once-neglected shops, this project was designed to press ‘reset’ on anti-social behaviour and crime. Having sat collecting dust for the last 10 years, this row of eight shops saw a complete turnaround within a month, putting the spotlight on independent eateries, must-dry dessert parlours, and locally owned salons.
At their core, the local community wanted change. Wanting to shake off its reputation as an up-to-no-good hotspot, we welcomed in a series of weird-and-wonderful retailers to breathe life back into the parade. Kickstarting the local economy, revitalising shopfronts, promoting a sense of neighbourhood pride, and building water-tight relationships with developers, this project allowed entrepreneurs to realise their wildest goals – with huge results.
